The Ingwe Leopard Project has a long association with Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation
Centre. They have generously assisted the ILP on many occasions, rehabilitating injured
Leopards or holding Leopards for relocation.
This live broadcast is brought to you from Moholoholo wildlife rehabilitation centre, nestled in a
picturesque setting at the base of the Drakensberg escarpment in the Limpopo Province Lowveld
of South Africa.
Moholoholo maintain this vulture restaurant as a conservation tool, providing a safe haven
where vultures can be monitored and many other scavengers can feed on meat that is free from
poison or disease
Moholoholo has become a haven for the rehabilitation and care of abandoned, injured and
poisoned wildlife. This Centre is a non-profit organization, relying completely on the support of
the public.
Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre was started in 1992 on a Game Farm owned by a wildlife
enthusiast Mr. J.A. Strijdom. Brian Jones the manager had a Crowned Eagle when he arrived and
then was brought in a day old Zebra, from there word got out that Brian was able to care and
release animals and birds…and so the Rehab Centre started.
Brian aims to get to the public the awareness of the plight of the Environment in Southern Africa.
• Reintroduce rehabilitated wildlife to their natural environments.
• Create homes for orphaned, poisoned or injured wildlife, which through their injuries will
never be able to return to their natural environments.
• Establish breeding facilities for our wildlife, which cannot be reintroduced into the wild.
• To work hand in hand with any other conservation bodies, whose objectives are totally for
conservation.
• Through our educational programmes we stress how sensitive our ecosystem is and how
fast we are losing it.
